Applications Process

To apply for entry to Wycombe Abbey School Hong Kong you will need to complete an online Application Form in Chinese or English and upload the required documents and photos. This can be completed by clicking on the link below and following the instructions.

A completed application includes:

  • A completed application form
  • A digital photograph of the applicant
  • A copy of the applicant’s passport (ID Pages only)
  • Copies of both parent’s passports (ID Pages only)
  • Previous two years of applicant’s school reports (if applicable)
  • Copies of all specialist reports or assessments (if applicable)
  • Student reference form to be filled in and returned by a previous teacher (if applicable)



Once we have received your application, the Admissions team will check it and then invite you to bring your child for an Assessment appointment. Age-appropriate assessments will be conducted in English by senior educators and the results will be reviewed by our expert panel.

Late application for entry in 2019-20 academic year

Application for late entry in 2019-20 is open and applicants for Years 1-5 will be considered on a case by case basis.

Application for entry in 2020-21 academic year

Application for entry in 2020 is open for all Year groups.

Admissions for entry to Year 1 and Year 2 in 2020-21 will close on 11th November 2019.

We are continuously reviewing all the new applications received on an ongoing basis. All children applying for Years 1 and 2 will receive an invitation for assessment within two weeks of submitting their application. Children applying for entry in Year 3 and above will be invited for assessment from January 2020.

Format of Assessment

The assessment aims to look at the individual child’s learning potential, including his or her English language ability, cognitive skills and social skills. All shortlisted children and their parents will be invited to attend an interview in English with the Headmaster.

Method of Assessment

  • Year 1 and Year 2 applicants will be assessed in a group setting to understand their level of numeracy, cognitive, interpersonal and social skills. The children will also be assessed for their understanding and use of English.
  • Children applying for Years 3 to 6 will undergo a written assessment covering English, Mathematics and non-verbal reasoning.

Results and Enrolment

For 2019-20 Admissions

Within two weeks of the assessment, families applying for a place will be notified of the admission result. If an applicant fulfills the admission and assessment requirements and a place is available, a formal offer will be made. To accept the offer of a place, parents will need to confirm the enrolment online via the admissions system within the specified time in the offer letter. 

For 2020-21 Admissions

The admission results for Year 1 and Year 2 applicants will be announced on 11th December 2019 by email to all parents. For Year 3 and above applicants, the admission results will be released within two weeks of the assessment.
